Jared A. Leff, M.S., is a Program Supervisor in the Division of Health Policy. He works on a variety of cost and cost-effectiveness analysis projects relating to the diagnosis and treatment of substance abuse, HIV, and hepatitis C. During his time at WCMC, Mr. Leff has applied micro-costing techniques to determine the costs of HIV testing in substance abuse treatment settings and the costs of integrating buprenorphine-naloxone and HIV treatment in an outpatient setting. He has also collaborated on developing models to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of offering buprenorphine-naloxone in a primary care setting and the cost-effectiveness of HIV testing in substance abuse treatment settings.

Mr. Leff graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. in 2006 and an M.S. in 2008, both in Industrial Engineering. From 2006 to 2008, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics on system-wide initiatives involving process improvement, quality improvement, and patient safety. Mr. Leff has co-authored manuscripts published in Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Evaluation and Program Planning, Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, Journal of Hospital Medicine, and Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography. Additionally, he has contributed to research presentations at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Substance Abuse Policy Research Program, Society for Medical Decision Making, Addiction Health Services Conference, and Yale School of Medicine Using Modeling to Inform Public Health! Seminar.
